getting your hair done at the library

Janice's fashion piece on the Phoenix was published this week. It's cheeky and well written, read it. I liked the tone and the writing a lot more than the photo they picked for it. I have no one to blame, I sent it. But I liked this one better.

Zone VII

I am sure some photographers will look down on the material on this blog as the preoccupations of a dilettante but these are the issues I have to deal with. I'm sorry I can't extemporize on the finer points of Barthes and Berger right now (but I am unbelievably glad you do, really). Maybe some other time.

What I've been spending most of my time working with as of late is the issue of the goddamn highlights on RAW files. I'd kill for some Dynamic Range. But something has finally clicked and I have been fairly successful at "compressing" the highlights into something that looks more "film-like" (you thought I was going to say "natural"). I am a voracious consumer of any kind of workflow-related advice but I've seldom come across information on how to deal with the highlights. Maybe that's something that the Caponigro's of the world would teach me how to do.
